Reasons To Get Rid Of Obamacare
Get Rid Of Obamacare: There are many countries in the world that provide universal health insurance for their citizens. United States is one of the few that does not. This was an area of controversy for many years up until Pres. Obama came up with Obamacare. This was an answer to the problem that citizens in America had which was not being able to afford health insurance. Unfortunately, many people complained about it and with the advent of Pres. Trump coming into office, it has become a point of contention prompting the Republican Party to come up with something better. Initially, Pres. Trump stated that he wanted to provide health insurance for everyone, hinting at a universal healthcare policy. However, this remains to be seen. There are many reasons for repealing Obamacare, but until we actually have something that will be just as good, or better, it is something that many people state should be left alone. That being said, there are reasons to get rid of Obamacare which are listed below.
The Cost Of Obamacare
One of the reasons that Obamacare is so controversy a right now is that it is costing quite a bit of money. Although this is not the fault of the policy itself, it is something that needs to be resolved. People are paying more money than ever before for this health insurance, just as private insurers for companies are also raising their premiums. The problem is the health industry itself which is constantly raising the prices for the medical procedures. Unfortunately, until the medical industry decides to curb the costs of the procedures that they are doing, it’s not going to get under control. Therefore, this is one reason that Obamacare should be removed and it strictly about the cost of the policy itself.
Choices And Competition
Another reason that this insurance should be repealed is that it does not provide a lot of choices for people that would like to get coverage. Many people are locked into specific doctors that have agreed to become part of the program. This will actually stifle competition between programs that are currently offering these services. Without competition, specifically doctors and hospitals being made available as a choice, it is simply going to fail. Part of the problem for not having competition is that there are so many other insurance providers that exist today through businesses and corporations that pay them what they are asking, there is no reason to take less through this national program. Doctors want to be compensated, and therefore until Obamacare can find a way to provide a much higher pay rate for doctors that are offering the service, choices will simply not exist because no one will want to participate in this system.
Forced To End Existing Plans
If you currently have insurance through another provider that you actually like, and you would like to have both types of coverage, it is possible that you may not be able to keep yours. When people are older, capable of qualifying for Medicare, they often use this as a secondary insurance so that they will never have a medical cost if their primary insurance is covering a large portion of the medical bills. This definitely needs to change because the main reason that people have two policies is it’s more affordable for some of them, especially when looking at how much hospitals and doctors charge for their services. This needs to be either modified, or simply removed from the policy, for Obamacare to actually work with people that have multiple types of coverage.
Restricted Access To Providers
One other reason to get rid of Obamacare is that it has not helped people have more choices. According to statistics, over 40% of the networks that work with this program are very small, which means people will have to travel a considerable distance just to get to a doctor. This, combined with the fact that more people than ever before are in Medicaid, is a clear sign that people are not staying with the program. Without this base pool of people that are contributing to the program, it’s simply not going to have the money necessary to sustain itself and will eventually collapse.
How Do You Fix The Problem?
The Republicans have passed a healthcare bill which is supposed to eliminate the problem. However, it is clear that it is not providing the coverage that Pres. Trump had envisioned. It is a plan that threatens to remove millions of people from coverage, and also raise rates, so it seems that an Obamacare replacement that will improve the situation does not actually exist. It would seem that other countries that currently have universal healthcare would be representative role models of how we should structure the one that will improve Obamacare, or allow us to eliminate it for something better. Since so many other countries have been able to do this for decades, it is very confusing as to why this type of policy has not been created.
Now that you have a better idea of why people want to get rid of Obamacare, you can see that this is a substantial obstacle. It may take many more years before the government and the health industry are able to come to a resolution to the problem. Both sides need to work together to create something that is feasible for both those that have money, and those that are on limited incomes. In fact, it should not be a factor at all. Looking out the rest of the world, it is clear that a policy that will cover all citizens in the United States would be a possibility, but no one can come to an agreement. Therefore, to actually get rid of Obamacare, the only alternative that seems feasible is to create a program that will allow all people to have this type of coverage. Until that day comes, it may not be a good idea to eliminate a program that has done so much for the people of America.
